Sun Protection

How to choose a Korean sunscreen

Korean sunscreens stand out above all for their textures: fluid, lightweight and often free of white cast, they can be worn alone or under makeup. That comfort makes it easier to apply sunscreen every day, not just in summer.

SPF and PA: two ratings to read

  • SPF measures protection against UVB rays, which cause sunburn. Most products in this selection are rated SPF50 or SPF50+.
  • PA (from PA+ to PA++++) shows the level of protection against UVA rays, which are linked to visible skin ageing and dark spots. PA++++ is the highest level of this rating system, widely used in Korea.

Chemical or mineral filters?

Which texture for your skin?

  • Oily or combination skin: sun serums and sticks with a matte finish, such as the Oil Control Mattifying Sun Stick by Celimax.
  • Dry skin: more hydrating creams, such as the Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream by Round Lab.
  • Sensitive skin: formulas with centella or aloe; see also our skincare for sensitive skin.
  • Uneven skin tone: a tinted "tone-up" cream such as the No.3 Porcelain Base-Skip by Numbuzin.
  • Touch-ups during the day: sticks fit in a bag and can be applied over makeup.

How to apply it

Sunscreen is the last step of your morning routine, after moisturiser. Use about two finger-lengths for the face and neck, and reapply every two hours when exposed to the sun, as well as after swimming or sweating. In the evening, a double cleanse removes the filters without rubbing: discover our cleansing oils and cleansers.
